Forks: Newest City Council member vows to “fight the good fight”

FORKS — The newest member of the Forks City Council will attend her first full-fledged council meeting Monday night, and she has plenty of plans for the city’s future.

“My objective is to get in there and fight the good fight with them, and make sure we’re recognized out here as a community that’s growing and evolving,” Denise Graham said.

Graham, a program manager for the law library at Clallam Bay Corrections Center, was appointed to the council Jan. 12.

She fills the seat vacated by Robert Kilmer, who resigned because he moved out of the area.

Graham and another candidate, Ellen Matheny, applied for the position. The council unanimously chose Graham for the seat and encouraged Matheny to apply for another upcoming vacancy on the council, Forks Mayor Nedra Reed said.
