FORKS — Bryon Monohon comes from a long line of politicians, “for better or for worse,” he says.
Now the Raymond native is making his own mark in the government arena.
Monohon, 41, is the newest member of the Forks City Council, filling a seat vacated by Councilman Josh Broo.
He was appointed to the open position at the council’s March 22 meeting and will serve through his first complete agenda on Monday.
“I thought it would be a fun way to really get to know some people and do some good things,” he said Tuesday.
Monohon, who works as a mental health case manager for West End Outreach Services and occasionally substitute-teaches in the Quillayute Valley School District, moved from East Jefferson County to Forks two years ago after marrying his wife, Beatrice.
The pair met in the Port Angeles Symphony, where he is principal trombonist and she is principal bassoonist.
