Five “local heroes”‘ will be honored today (Friday) with the Clallam County Community Service Award for 2003.
The recipients are:
* Patty Hannah, executive director of United Way of Clallam County.
* Edward Hopfner, M.D., co-founder with his wife, Phyllis, of a free medical clinic at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Port Angeles.
* Cody Sandell, a Sequim teenager who donates thousands of volunteer hours to coaching soccer.
* Anne-Marie and John Summers, husband and wife community volunteers who have been involved in numerous projects, including helping make the Port Angeles Dream Playground a reality last fall.
They will receive framed award certificates at a luncheon that begins noon at The Tempest Youth Center, 535 E. First St., Port Angeles.
