Five Port Angeles-area high school students receive Soroptimist STAR awards

PORT ANGELES — Soroptimist International of Port Angeles Noon Club has selected five area high school students as recipients of its STAR awards.

Those receiving awards are Port Angeles High School students Hollund Bailey, academics; Aeverie Politika, business; Madelynne Jones, vocal music; and Hollee Schnabel, extracurricular community service; and Lincoln High School student Mariah Givens, academics.

Soroptimist’s selection criteria for the award includes effort and willingness to work at subject, success in the specific areas, passing in all subjects, above-average grades in specific subject area and extracurricular activity in a specific area.
