Fish on the Fence gala today

PORT ANGELES — The Fish on the Fence Benefit Gala is intended to be, well, fishy.

Fish, both in the art show, and in the seafood dinner, will be featured during the celebration from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.

The Arthur D. Feiro Marine Life Center and the Lincoln High School Commercial Art program are hosting the event at The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave.

The gala will begin with live music by Dan Lieberman & Friends.

Dozens of hand-painted wood and ceramic fish will be on display in the gallery show.

Live and silent auction items will be available.

Leonard Johnson of Marrowstone Island’s Mystery Bay Seafood will cater a Neptune’s Feast — a clambake of fresh clams, oysters, crab, prawns, mussels, scallops, ling cod and vegetables.

Other menu options will include a chicken or vegetarian kabob.

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at Port Book & News, 104 E. First St., Wine on the Waterfront; 115 E. Railroad Ave.; and the Feiro Marine Life Center on the Port Angeles City Pier.

The Fish on the Fence project began in 2009 when more than 500 pieces of art were installed on the fence surrounding The Landing mall.

This year, a display of plankton species designed and produced by Lincoln High School students will be added.

Community artists are invited to submit designs to add to the installation.

Interested artists should phone The Landing mall at 360-457-4407.

For more information about the gala, phone the Feiro Marine Life Center at 360-417-6254 or visit www.feiromarinelifecenter.org.
