Fire destroys RV in Glen Cove area

PORT TOWNSEND — A recreational vehicle was destroyed by fire in the Glen Cove area late Thursday morning.

No injuries were reported, said Bill Beezley, spokesman for East Jefferson Fire-Rescue.

Firefighters were called to a blaze near the intersection of Sixth and Stevens streets at 10:27 a.m. after two men driving by the recreational vehicle saw a plume of smoke, flames and downed power lines across the road, then called 9-1-1, Beezley said.

Firefighters knocked down the fire within 10 minutes, but not before the RV was destroyed, he said.

Firefighters said the RV appeared to be the permanent living quarters of someone, but the owner of the vehicle had not yet been located by Thursday afternoon.

The Jefferson County Fire Investigation Task Force was investigating the cause of the fire Thursday, Beezley said.
