PORT ANGELES — Chris Gilbert, a storyteller who’s spent many a happy hour singing in folk clubs and pub song circles, is headed for the Story Swap this Tuesday night.
The storyteller from London now lives in Port Townsend, where he hosts the P.T. Folk Song Night on the third Friday of the month.
He’s a lover of stories, naturally, from the humorous and shaggy to the historical.
Gilbert will be the featured teller from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
Admission to the Story Swap is free, and all ages are welcome.
His story for Tuesday is a personal one about Ewan MacColl, whom Gilbert considers the father of the U.K. folk-song revival.
He’ll be illustrating the tale with a few of the 300-plus songs written by MacColl, whose counterparts in the U.S. were Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger.
After Gilbert’s piece and the 8 p.m. refreshment break, the Story Swap mic will open up, so other tellers are invited to share their tales.
