EYE ON JEFFERSON: Joint meet set today on Port Townsend plan

The Port Townsend City Council and Port Townsend Planning Commission will conduct a joint workshop to discuss the comprehensive plan today.

The workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers, 540 Water St.

The workshop will include discussion of the summary input of priorities as gathered during a June 24 town meeting.

Also on the agenda is a discussion of the preliminary scope of work leading up to the implementation of those suggestions.

Council office hours, during which members of the public can discuss any topic with a member of the City Council, will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in the mayor’s office at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

Other city meetings in conference rooms in City Hall, 250 Madison St., are:

■ Arts Commission — 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, third-floor conference room.

■ Civil Service Commission — 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, second-floor conference room.

Jefferson County

The three Jefferson County commissioners will continue a discussion about population projections at a meeting today.

The discussion will take place during a 1:30 p.m. briefing session in chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

There are no items on the regular agenda for the 9 a.m. meeting, at which time the commissioners are expected to approve the consent agenda without discussion.

Items on the consent agenda include:

â–  Approval of a sale of surplus property with a hearing scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 24 in chambers.

â–  Agreements to allocate $169,358 to Jefferson County Public Health for pollution control, to allocate $175,000 to the Washington Early Learning Fund and to allocate a combined $40,020 for annual telephone maintenance in three county facilities.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will get an update on boat ramp work and discuss the Larry Scott Trail when they meet in regular session Wednesday.

Commissioners will meet at 9:30 a.m. for a workshop and conduct their regular meeting at 1 p.m. at 333 Benedict St.

During the workshop, commissioners will discuss the Quilcene waste water project, with Linda Herzog of Quilcene Conversations addressing them; the 2016 operating budget; and the port’s strategic plan.

During the afternoon meeting, they will hear about design adjustments to bring the planned boat ramp addition in Boat Haven in line with the budget. Bids for the work are new Aug. 26.

They will discuss a potential project to direct some of the Larry Scott Trail traffic around the shipyard area to make a safer environment.

Chimacum schools

The Chimacum School Board will consider a memorials review request and review a proposed board calendar when it meets Wednesday.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. in the library at Chimacum High School, 91 West Valley Road.

Board members also will discuss a strategy for community engagement.

They will discuss a board retreat planned from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Port Ludlow Bay Club.

They will consider personnel in an executive session. No action is expected after the board reconvenes in public session.
