EYE ON CLALLAM: Sequim panel, county mull sewer pact

The Sequim City Council and Clallam County commissioners will conduct a joint meeting to consider an interlocal agreement for the Carlsborg sewer project Monday.

The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.

The agreement would secure long-term wastewater treatment for Carlsborg by pumping waste from the unincorporated community to the city’s treatment center.

Meanwhile, the council also will hold final public hearings on the 2015 budget, property tax levy, transportation district and fees and charges.

Other agenda items include:

â–  An interlocal agreement with the North Olympic Library System for snow removal.

â–  Public-private streets and water systems policy options.

â–  Approval of public art locations and call for artists for a rotating art display.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider an agreement with the state Department of Ecology for floodplain restoration work on the lower Dungeness River on Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include:

â–  A resolution adopting a comprehensive solid waste management plan.

â–  Notice of a Dec. 16 hearing regarding proposed amendments to county policy for employee benefits.

â–  A resolution closing funds no longer in use.

â–  Resolutions authorizing allocation of local funds for affordable housing and the homeless.

â–  A public hearing and consideration of the six-year Transportation Improvement Program.

â–  A certificate of appreciation for Kathy Wahto for nine years of service on the Homelessness Task Force.

■ A certificate of appreciation for Lew Schrawyer for four years of service to the prosecuting attorney’s office.

Commissioners will discuss a request for proposals for hearing examiner services and the interlocal agreement with the city of Sequim for the Carlsborg sewer in a work session Monday.

The work session will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom.

Forks City Council

The Forks City Council will conduct a public hearing on its 2015 budget and consider approval of a proposed ordinance for licensing owners of large numbers of animals when it meets Monday.

The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 500 E. Division St.

The new animal law would require yearly animal-collector licenses for owners of 11 or more dogs, cats and birds combined on a parcel of property, as well as for three or more nonvenomous reptiles larger than 20 inches in length or 4 pounds in weight, whichever is smaller, and for any animal or reptile that is venomous.

The council also will consider the 2015 property tax levy and a resolution establishing a petty cash fund.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider adoption of a 2015 budget and authorizing a 1 percent property tax increase when they meet Tuesday.

The commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. in the port administration building, 338 W. First St.

They also will consider equipment purchases and hear a reports on a Washington State Society of American Foresters Conference and on the Composite Advanced Manufacturing Expo.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will hear a report from the general manager Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Port Angeles main office, 2431 E. U.S. Highway 101.

On Tuesday, district commissioners will hold a work session on the 2015 budget.

The work session will begin at 1:30 p.m. and will be held in the same boardroom.

PA City Council

The Port Angeles City Council will discuss suicide prevention measures for the Eighth Street bridges at a work session Tuesday.

The meeting is at 5 p.m. in City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

The meeting will include the participation of representatives from emergency services and Peninsula Behavioral Health, and a discussion focused on installing suicide-prevention fencing on the two spans.
