EYE ON CLALLAM: County to consider memorandum of understanding with housing authority

The three Clallam County commissioners will discuss a memorandum of understanding with the Peninsula Housing Authority for a $901,200 Opportunity Fund grant for the first phase of the Mount Angeles View redevelopment project Monday.

The work session will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

The grant was recommended by the Opportunity Fund Advisory Board and approved by county commissioners on the condition that the city of Port Angeles add the public housing project to its comprehensive plan.

The city updated its comprehensive plan with the addition of the Mount Angeles View project June 20.

Other discussion items for the work session include:

• A request for a joint meeting with the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Council.

• A contract amendment with the state Department of Ecology to move funds from Oil Spill Preparedness and to rename the Moving Geographic Response Plan.

• A call for hearing on a proposed code amendment for the number of appointed members needed for a quorum of the Permit Advisory Board.

Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Monday.

Action items include:

• An agreement with Aldergrove Construction Inc. for the Clallam County Veterans Center ramp installation and re-painting project.

• A quit claim deed and real estate excise tax affidavit with the Peninsula Housing Authority to disclaim any reversionary interest in property that Clallam County previously conveyed.

Business meetings are typically held on Tuesdays, but the courthouse will be closed this Tuesday for the Fourth of July holiday.
