EYE ON CLALLAM: County to consider contracts Tuesday

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider a variety of contracts and a bid award when they meet in regular session at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. It will be preceded by a work session at 9 a.m.

The county courthouse will be closed on Monday for the Memorial Day holiday.

Rep. Steve Tharinger, D-Sequim, will be presented with a plaque form the state Recreation and Park Association.

Jody Jacobsen will be introduced as the new juvenile and family services director.

Commissioners will conduct public hearing at 10:30 a.m. on debatable emergencies.

Contracts under consideration will include:

• Agreement with Volunteers in Medicine of the Olympics (VIMO) to provide a program to assist individuals identified and referred by Port Angeles Police Department or Border Patrol who are in need of behavioral health services in the amount of $50,787.

• Agreement with West End Outreach Services to provide treatment for behavioral health conditions to individuals and families at or below the federal poverty level on a fee-for-service basis in the amount of $15,080.

• Agreement with Olympic Personal Growth Center for early intervention services to youth in Sequim Middle and High Schools in the amount of $22,640.

• Agreement with Olympic Personal Growth Center to provide substance use disorder services to individuals at or below the federal poverty level on a fee for service basis in the amount of $44,940.

• Personal Services Agreement Amendment 1 with Olympic Community Action Programs adjusting the salaries and administration fees while keeping the maximum consideration the same at $3,500.

• Contract with Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe for state Department of Ecology grant for a quality assurance project plan and the Olympia oyster restoration efforts.

Commissioners also will consider a grant agreement with Ecology for the Local Solid Waste Financial Assistance program to support both a residential and business recycling/waste prevention program.

A bid award will be considered to Petersen Brothers, Inc. for guardrail repair.

At the work session at 9 a.m. Tuesday, commissioners will consider making a WSU extension office position full time, consider a pre-application questionnaire with the Bureau of Justice Assistance for adult drug court discretionary grant program, and consider landowner acknowledgement forms for Kugel Creek and Hoko Ozette culvert replacement projects.

Sequim city

The Sequim City Council will consider approval of the Sequim Library Capital Facility Area when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The council will meet at the Sequim Civic Center at 152 W. Cedar St.

City offices are closed Monday for the Memorial Day holiday.

Approval of the library area will authorizes the North Olympic Library System to submit its request to Clallam County for submission to voters.

The council also will consider awarding a contract to the low bidder, Sierra Santa Fe Corp., of Ridgefield, for $270,674 for chip sealing on city streets. Three bids were received.

The council also will consider provisions for human services funding. Staff recommends the city host a human services summit in late summer or early fall.

Forks city

The Forks City Council will consider awarding a contract for road and sidewalk improvement when it meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The council will meet at City Hall, 500 E. Division St.

City offices will be closed Monday for the Memorial Day holiday.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will not meet on Monday because of the Memorial Day holiday.
