EYE ON CLALLAM: County sets hearing on accessory housing zoning

Government meetings across Clallam County.

The three Clallam County commissioners will conduct a public hearing on accessory housing zoning in their weekly business meeting Tuesday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners also will conduct a joint meeting with the Makah Tribal Council at 1:30 p.m. Monday to discuss an update on rural broadband expansion, state Highway 112 and affordable housing in Neah Bay.

The hybrid meetings will be conducted in Board of County Commissioners meeting room in the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Agenda items include:

• A public hearing on a resolution adopting $149,316 of 2022 funding for debatable emergencies/.

• A public hearing on the adoption of new fee schedules at the county fairgrounds.

• Call for bids on the Dry Creek Road reconstruction project, no later than Tuesday, April 19; and for the 2022 asphalt products supply contracts, no later than Tuesday, April 12.

• An agreement with Olympic Timber LLC to donate right of way for Hoko Ozette Road to the county road department.

• Amendments to the agreements with the Department of Health for $1,016,643 in funding for Group A water systems, $4,800; COVID-19 vaccine, $143,921; maternal-child health services, $8,187; onsite septic program, $318,778; and emergency preparedness, COVID-19 and prescription drug overdose prevention, $540,957.

• A resolution to reallocate $30,000 of operations funds in the prosecuting attorney’s office to personnel services.

• Certification of 2021 Road Fund expenditures for fish passage barrier removal and for traffic law enforcement.

• An agreement with the Washington State University Extension for $212,598 for food and farms, community health, master gardeners, 4-H youth development and waste reduction programs.

• An agreement for $35,007 for the superior court to purchase security equipment for the courthouse.

• An agreement with Anchor QEA for a no-cost extension on design services for the Dungeness off-channel reservoir project.

• An agreement with the city of Sequim for the county to administer its affordable housing sales tax funds.

• An agreement with the Peninsula Daily News for legal notices and delinquent tax listings.

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

Forks city

The Forks City Council will consider a resolution supporting sustainable timber harvesting on Department of Natural Resources lands when it meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The council also will consider a Clallam County Housing Solutions Committee appointment and discuss the Quillayute Airport master plan.

Sequim city

The Sequim City Council will conduct a work session on council rules at 5 p.m. Monday. It will conduct public hearings on amendments to the comprehensive plan and on the Mariner Outlook phase 3 subdivision during a regular business meeting at 6 p.m. that day.
