EYE ON CLALLAM: County considers support for raised median at Morse Creek

Clallam County commissioners will consider Tuesday a letter of support for the state Department of Transportation to install a raised median on U.S. Highway 101 around Morse Creek S-curve east of Port Angeles.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Other scheduled action items include:

• A letter of support for the state Department of Transportation to give high priority to begin the design and engineering phases for improvements to U.S. Highway 101 from Sequim to Blyn.

• An agreement with Jefferson County Public Works for reimbursable work.

• Resolutions appointing Bob Lake to the Board of Health and Charla Wright to the Olympic Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council.

• Notice of a Feb. 5 hearing on the proposed surplus of vehicles and equipment.

Commissioners will hold their weekly work session at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The courthouse will be closed Monday for observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Topics for the work session include:

• An introduction to conservation futures.

• An amended agreement with Correctional Healthcare Companies, LLC, for inmate health care.

• An amended agreement with the state County Road Administration Board for completion of a Rural Arterial Program project.

Port of Port Angeles

The Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider accepting the $1.6 million Marine Trades Industrial Park Wash-Down Facility project as complete when it meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The commission will meet in the port administration building, 338 W. First St., Port Angeles.

It also will consider a bid award for the Boat Haven marina shorepower additions, a purchase for $150,000 of a temporary fabric building in the Boat Yard, and funding for the coffer dam report, a new lease for the Port Angeles Yacht Club.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board will conduct a mid-year evaluation of the superintendent when it meets Tuesday.

The evaluation will be in executive session from 4:30 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. before the regular meeting convenes at 6 p.m. at the district office board room at 503 N. Sequim Ave.

The board also will consider several policies.

Crescent schools

The Crescent School Board will consider a three-year contract extension with the superintendent at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The meeting will be at the Crescent School Library, 50350 state Highway 112 in Joyce.

The board also will consider authorization of a bid award for replacement of the gymnasium heat pump.

Library system

The North Olympic Library System board will consider approval of a 2019 capital budget at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The meeting will be in the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
