EYE ON CLALLAM: County considers Forks pool funding

Clallam County commissioners will discuss funding for the Forks Athletic and Aquatic Club on Monday.

The work session will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include:

• A grant application to repair and replace infrastructure in the Clallam Bay/Sekiu sewer system.

• A discussion of the designation of an Associate Development Organization.

• A presentation on Historical Preservation funds.

• An update on the current legislative session.

Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include:

• A resolution declaring the emergency closure of the Sol Duc River bridge on the Quillayute Road due to structural damage sustained from a high load.

• A letter of support pertaining to the state’s election funding.

• An agreement with the state Department of Commerce for additional training related to a Crime Victim Advocacy Grant.

• Bid openings for the Third Street Building HVAC replacement and Clallam County jail kitchen exhaust improvement projects.

• A notice of bids for the countywide paving and road repair project.

• A resolution appointing Charlie Commeree and Jason Anderson to the Trails Advisory Board.

• A resolution reappointing Joy Thompson to the Board of Equalization.

• Two resolutions altering voting precinct boundary lines for precinct size limits and annexations.

• Certification of an applicant match for the final phase of the Spruce Railroad Trail at Lake Crescent.

An executive session will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday for the board to discuss with staff a recent ruling of the Western Washington Growth Management Hearings Board.

Sequim/Clallam County

The Sequim City Council will host a joint meeting with Clallam County commissioners Monday.

The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., after a 4 p.m. tour of the Dungeness Off-Channel Reservoir.

Agenda items include:

• Revisions to the service extension review process.

• Clallam County Climate Change Week.

• Funding for homeless and changes to the 2019 homeless funding process.

• A review of state Department of Natural Resources financial performance.

• A strategic plan for the North Olympic Peninsula.

• An update on Olympic Medical Center.

The Sequim City Council will hold its regular business meeting after the joint meeting with Clallam County commissioners.

Agenda items include a public hearing on a proposed ordinance providing for planned residential developments.

Port Angeles City Council/UAC

The Port Angeles City Council and the city Utility Advisory Committee will conduct a joint meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The work session will be in council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

The special meeting is to review the stormwater/solid waste cost of service analysis models.

Port Angeles Planning Commission

The Port Angeles Planning commission will conduct a public hearing on amendments to the city’s comprehensive plan and municipal code at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be in council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

The proposed amendments include addressing inconsistencies; eliminating redundancies, vagueness and ambiguity; evaluating the definition of “policy;” incorporating the 2019 Housing Needs Assessment, and reviewing policies within the plan.

The City Council will conduct a public hearing on the amendments at 6:30 p.m. June 4.

Public Utility District

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will review completed 2018 projects and planned 2019 projects Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg main office at 104 Hooker Road.

Action items for the meeting include:

• Approval of the use of a consent agenda.

• An invitation to bid for circuit breakers.

• A resolution amending the district’s investment policy.
