EYE ON CLALLAM: Board of Health to hear Covid-19 update

The Clallam County Board of Health will hear an update on the new coronavirus when it meets at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The board will meet in the commissioners’ boardroom, Room 160, at the Clallam County Courthouse.

The county’s public health officer will update the board on the status of Covid-19 in the county.

Board members also will discuss solid waste regulations.

They will hear presentations on opioids and the syringe exchange.

County commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider approving a variety of health agreements with county agencies during their weekly business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

They also will consider an application to improve fish passage on the Agnew Irrigation District’s outtake and review request for qualifications for engineering surveying work to be done in 2020.

A work session will begin an hour earlier at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Commissioners will consider an agreement with the Washington Water Trust regarding the Dungeness Off-Channel Reservoir Project.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will consider measures concerning a merger between PenCom and JeffCom911 when it meets in regular session at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The council will meet in City hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

A special meeting to go over roles and responsibilities of council members is set for 5:30 p.m.

It will consider a pre-engineering professional services agreement with OAC Services for a joint city/county faculty near the Fairchild International Airport for a joint 911 dispatch center and a contract amendment with Tyler Technology for data merging of Clallam and Jefferson county records.

It also will consider acceptance of a grant for community paramedic services and a climate action planning update.

Clallam Transit

Clallam Transit board members will elect officers when they meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be at the Clallam Transit System administration building at 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd.

Board members also will consider action on:

• Applications for Low and No Emissions Vehicle Program and Bus and Bus Facilities grants.

• Policies on Transit advertising, performance evaluations and merit compensation, paid family and medical leave, shared leave, recruitment’s and appointments, employee wellness and greenhouse gases reduction.

• National Transit Driver Appreciation Day.

• Summer youth pass interlocal agreement.

Planning commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission will elect officers at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.

Other agenda items include review of proposed amendments to the mineral lands code and an overview from the public works department on road maintenance.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board will discuss recent action by the state Department of Natural Resources when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The board will meet at 503 N. Sequim Ave.

It also will consider policies on notification of threats of violence or harm and school-based threat assessment.

Olympic Medical Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will discuss the chief executive officer job description and salary when they meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 E. Caroline St., Port Angeles.

The present CEO, Eric Lewis, will leave the position he has held since December 2006 in May.

Commissioners also will meet in executive session to discuss the qualifications of an applicant for public employment.

Charter review

The Charter Review Commission will discuss changing the way Clallam County voters elect county commissioners when it meets at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The special meeting will be in the commissioners’ boardroom, Room 160, at the Clallam County Courthouse.

The panel will discuss asking voters to approve a return to countywide electing of commissioners rather than the change approved in 2015 that did away with at-large voting.

Fire District 2

Clallam County Fire District No. 2 commissioners will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 1212 E. First St.

No agenda was available as of Saturday.

Fire District 3

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will discuss civil action by labor unions when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at station headquarters, 323 N. Fifth Ave. in Sequim.

Commissioners also will discuss a ambulance chassis surplus and information on a hiring recommendation.

The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
