Studio 36 on Saturday night
PORT TOWNSEND — It’ll be a double bill to close out the season at Studio 36 this Saturday: “Penumbra,” a winter solstice celebration piece, plus butoh dancer Joan Laage of Seattle and musician Dmitry Artamanov performing “Strand,” a dance work.
Doors at Studio 36, up on the third floor of the Mount Baker Block building at 211 Taylor St., will open at 6:30 p.m. for the performances at 7 p.m.
Admission is a suggested $10 donation.
Guests will be treated first to “Penumbra,” featuring artists Camille Hildebrandt, Amy Priest and Aimee Kelley and a live electronic soundscape from David Noble.
Then come Laage and Artamanov with their piece, which debuted in Seattle earlier this month.
A founder of the DAIPAN Butoh Collective, Laage has performed widely in the United States, Europe and Japan, where she trained with the groundbreaking butoh dancers Yoko Ashikawa and Kazuo Ohno.
