PORT ANGELES — A free presentation Thursday will offer information on the economic development opportunities created by the recently designated Maritime Washington National Heritage Area.
Chris Moore, executive director of the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation, will present information from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St., about the area, which includes Clallam and Jefferson counties.
Washington Trust for Historic Preservation has been named the management entity for the new National Heritage Area, designated by Congress in March, which encompasses more than 3,000 miles of Washington state coastline.
A National Heritage Area has unique nationally significant qualities and resources. It is a place where a combination of natural, cultural, historic and recreational resources have shaped a cohesive, nationally distinctive landscape.
Strategies for managing the area will involve collaborative planning with residents, tribal partners, government agencies and nonprofit groups.
