Early morning road work set in Port Angeles next week

PORT ANGELES — Both the city of Port Angeles and the state Department of Transportation will be repairing roads in Port Angeles next week.

DOT crews will begin four days of early morning road work at 4 a.m. Monday, according to a press release.

Crews will work on the eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 101 beginning on Lincoln Street near Third Street from 4 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Monday.

On Tuesday morning, crews will move to First Street, between Lincoln and Vine streets.

On Wednesday, the crews will work on Lincoln Street again, near 11th Street; this will require alternating single-lane traffic and access to Lincoln Street from east 11th Street will be closed.

On Thursday morning, work is scheduled on westbound Highway 101 near Baker Street.

All the work is scheduled between 4 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., but it is weather dependent and may be rescheduled, WSDOT said.

Work crews from the Port Angeles Public Works and Utilities Department will be chip sealing on Eighth Street beginning at 7 a.m. Monday.

Chip seal road work includes the application of liquid asphalt and chipped road rock to seal the road’s surface and extend its lifespan. The repair work will begin at the Eighth Street bridge and proceed west to I Street before turning south and continuing to 16th Street.

Work is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

Permanent striping will be performed after a curing period and is expected to require one or two days in early September to complete.
