Jefferson County Commissioner David Sullivan returned Tuesday after undergoing an unexpected surgery last week at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
“It’s been a rough week,” said Sullivan, 52, adding that he feels stronger and hopes to perform his commissioner duties through phone conferences.
A surgeon implanted a second plate in his back on Thursday to support a plate implanted from the front that an X-ray revealed was slipping. The plates are necessary to stabilized the lower lumbar vertebra he injured in a 40-foot bluff fall near his home on May 1.
