FORKS – The first-born of two recent residents of Forks was the first baby born in a Clallam County hospital in 2008.
Gladys Marisol Pablo Mendoza was born at 11:25 p.m. Jan. 1 at Forks Community Hospital, said Mary Raben, registered nurse.
The 9-pound, 6-ounce baby was born to Raymundo Pablo and Rosa Pablo Mendoza MartÃn, who spoke to the Peninsula Daily News in Spanish.
Originally from Huehuetenango, Guatemala, the two moved to the United States three years ago, settling in California.
Six months ago, they moved to Forks, where Pablo works clearing brush.
The two plan a big family, eventually, Pablo said.
Their hopes for their new child?
“Just being together,” Pablo said.
“To be tranquil, happy, content,” said Rosa.
