The 51st annual United Way campaign gets under way with meetings and special events over the next two weeks across the North Olympic Peninsula.
This year’s campaign goal is $850,000, a 4 percent increase over the $818,000 raised in 2002.
Campaign chairman Pastor Charlie Mays of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Angeles, said the theme this year is “Helping People Here at Home — the United Way.”
But Mays gives the theme a little twist.
