A Clallam County law enforcement department manager with more than 20 years experience was named to the county’s top job Tuesday.

County commissioners announced Undersheriff Dan Engelbertson was selected to replace former county Administrator Jim Rumpeltes during the board’s regular meeting.

Tuesday was Rumpeltes’ last day at his post. He begins his new job in two weeks as assistant city manager for Surprise, Ariz.

Engelbertson said he’s pleased with the job offer.

“Thank you for your confidence,” Engelbertson said to commissioners following the unanimous vote.
