Rick McFarlen of Port Angeles was named Volunteer of the Year on Wednesday night for his service with Clallam County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue.
McFarlen, a volunteer for more than a year, attends weekly training, is certified in radio communications, technical rescue and search and rescue fundamentals, and “has given freely of his time” to keep vehicles and equipment clean and operation, Sue Sargeant of Search and Rescue said Wednesday.
Volunteer Ed Phillips was also recognized for his 10 years of continuous service and commitment.
