PORT ANGELES — An Island County judge has dismissed a petition to recall Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney Chris Shea.
Judge Vickie Churchill ruled that Port of Port Angeles critic Willis F. Gormley’s petition seeking to remove Shea from office was “made in bad faith,” according to court records.
The judge issued the ruling last Friday after Gormley failed to appear for a hearing in Clallam County Superior Court
Craig A. Ritchie, Shea’s attorney, argued that if Gormley had wanted the recall to go forward, he would have appeared.
A hearing to award Shea reimbursement for attorney fees has yet to be scheduled.
Gormley filed the recall petition with the county auditor last month after Shea’s office rejected a petition seeking to recall the three Port commissioners because of alleged contract irregularities.
Earlier this month, Court Commissioner William G. Knebes ordered Gormley to pay the Port $9,288.23 in attorney and other fees and costs.
