PORT ANGELES –Veterans, doctors, nurses, community members and elected officials gathered Thursday afternoon to remember and honor the history of the Olympic Memorial Hospital and those who made it possible.
A memorial was dedicated in front of Olympic Memorial Center as part of the hospital’s celebration of 50 years of service to Clallam County.
More than 200 people attended the dedication ceremony.
As the United States flag was raised, veterans from World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars, and Desert Storm raised their hand in salute.
“I am humbled by the people I am surrounded by,” said legislative Rep. Jim Buck, R-Joyce. “The memorial is beautiful and set appropriately between the sea to shining sea behind us and the purple mountains in front of us.”
