JOYCE — A permit for the Freshwater Bay fire station proposed by Fire District No. 4 will be the subject of a public hearing next month.
The conditional use permit hearing is scheduled before the Clallam County Hearings Examiner at 1 p.m. Sept. 9 in Meeting Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The proposed fire station is one of five conditions that must be met by March 2003 before Fire District No. 4 can annex the Freshwater Bay area from Fire District No. 2.
The conditions were contained in agreement reached in March between county commissioners and commissioners from the two fire districts.
Freshwater Bay is in the northwest corner of Fire District No. 2, which encompasses rural Port Angeles.
The nearest District No. 2 station is Dry Creek, located east of the Elwha River at 700 Power Plant Road.
Fire District No. 4 covers the Joyce area.
