Clallam: Hawe declares victory in sheriff race

Clallam County Sheriff Joe Hawe has declared victory in his re-election bid.

Hawe received 12,021 votes (56 percent) to Soeren Poulsen’s 9,491 votes (44 percent) after 8,229 more mail-in ballots were counted Friday.

About 5,000 late-arriving ballots will be tallied Thursday in the all-mail election, but Poulsen said he didn’t expect to see a turnaround.
