PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Auditor Cathleen McKeown took voters back to an Election Night of the past in Clallam County — complete with red, white and blue balloons and decorations in the courthouse basement.
More than 50 candidates, voters and politicos milled around and socialized inside the courthouse Emergency Operations Center on Tuesday night, munching on finger foods and watching the results creep in precinct by precinct, then written by hand on a giant board.
It was a lot like they did it before McKeown’s office took voters into the 21st century with less expensive all mail-in balloting.
Election Night at the courthouse was an experiment, McKeown said, one that may not survive if the reviews are not good enough.
The slower results meant less information to Peninsula Daily News readers today.
