PORT ANGELES — Clallam County citizens can apply for vacancies on 18 boards and committees.
Applications are available at the Clallam County commissioners office (Suite 4) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

The deadline to apply is Dec. 23.
The following board and committees have vacancies:
• Animal Issues Advisory Committee. The panel serves as a liaison between the Board of Clallam County Commissioners and the county’s contractor for animal shelter services. The District 3 and tribal government positions are open for three-year terms.
• Boundary Review Board. The board reviews annexation proposals with powers to determine logical boundaries, transfer of services and other matters. Public meetings are held as necessary. The special districts position is open for a four-year term.
• Carlsborg Community Advisory Council. The council acts as a liaison between Carlsborg Urban Growth Area citizens and the county to convey community desires to the Clallam County Planning Commission and the county commissioners. Openings are in Parkwood manufactured home community, business or real property owner, and at-large member seats for three-year terms.
• Chemical Dependency and Mental Health Program Fund Advisory Board. The board advises the commissioners on administration of the funding from additional sales tax that voters approved in 2005. The private provider of chemical dependency services position is open for a three-year term.
• Clallam Bay-Sekiu Community Advisory Council. Seven spots are open on the council that gathers information, makes recommendations and advances orderly growth and development of the area. The senior community, Clallam Bay corrections, area business owner, three at-large, and public schools positions are open for two-year terms.
• Clallam Bay-Sekiu Sewer Advisory Committee. The panel gathers information on sewer operations, rates and billing procedures, and makes recommendations to the commissioners. One position is open for a two-year term.
• Crescent Community Advisory Council. The council acts as a liaison between those living in the Crescent School District and the commissioners on issues that may include land use, economic development, transportation and pedestrian improvements, capital projects and services and community projects. Three positions are open for three-year terms.
• Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee. The panel advises the board and Department of Health and Human Services on programs and services for people who have mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, other neurological impairments or developmental disabilities and their families through service contracts with provider agencies. Five positions are open for three-year terms.
• Fair Advisory Board. The board advises the commissioners on planning, developing, organizing and operating the Clallam County Fair and fairgrounds. The at-large and livestock positions are open for four-year terms.
• Homelessness Task Force. The task force advises the commissioners on homelessness matters. A homeless or formerly homeless representative seat is open for a four-year term.
• Lake Sutherland Steering Committee. Two positions are open for Lake Sutherland residents. Representatives serve five-year terms.
• Marine Resource Committee. The panel advises the commissioners on issues related to the marine resources of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and its bays, estuaries and inlets within the borders of Clallam County. A commercial fisherman’s position is open for a four-year term.
• North Olympic Library System Board of Trustees. The five-member board oversees the Port Angeles, Sequim, Clallam Bay and Forks public libraries. The library system is administered by a library director. One position on the board is open for a five-year term.
• Permit Advisory Board. The board makes recommendations to the commissioners for changes in the county building code. Eight positions are open for two-year terms.
• Planning Commission. The nine-member advisory board assists the commissioners through the Department of Community Development. It reviews land use policy and related issues, including comprehensive land use plans and planning ordinances. The District 1 position is open for a four-year term.
• Public Health Advisory Committee. The panel advises the Board of Health and the Department of Health and Human Services on community assessment information, public health policy options and emerging concerns. Four positions are open for three-year terms.
• Sheriff’s Citizens Advisory Committee. The panel advises the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office and serves as a link between the Sheriff’s Office and the community. Five positions — the city of Sequim, Clallam Bay/Sekiu, Forks, Quileute tribe and unincorporated area seats — are open for three-year terms.
• Solid Waste Advisory Committee. The panel assists in the implementation of programs and policies concerning solid waste handling and disposal. It also reviews and comments on proposed changes to the comprehensive solid waste management plan. Four positions — the at-large, city of Port Angeles, state and federal agencies and private industry seats — are open for two-year terms.
