The Clallam Community Foundation has awarded scholarships and grants from its named funds.
In a named fund, the donor or appointed family member may make recommendations for grants and/or set criteria for scholarships.
Distributions are made from earnings of each fund, while the principal is preserved as a permanent endowment.
United Way of Clallam County administers the Clallam Community Foundation and works closely with fund advisers to carry out the wishes of the donor.
The following scholarships were awarded:
■Bright Haygood Copsey Fund — Angelina Moody, $500 to Peninsula College; and Carter Urnes, $500 to St. Olaf College.
Additionally, continuing Peninsula College students Michaela Bowlby, Mai Pham and Nina Haggerty were each awarded $1,000.
■Karen Byrd Memorial Scholarship Fund — Corbin Brabant, $1,000 to Peninsula College; and Laura Bone, $1,000 to University of California Santa Barbara.
■Michael Sindars Memorial Scholarship Fund — Jared Felton, $2,000 to Bates Technical College.
■Mac Ruddell Community Fund — Emmett Bowman, $1,000 to University of Washington; Nicholas Camporini, $1,500 to Peninsula College; Mollie Clark, $1,000 to Peninsula College; and Kyler Morgan, $1,000 to Oregon Institute of Technology.
■Hull Family Fund — Kiera Conway, $1,000 to Peninsula College; Kirstin Erickson, $1,000 to University of Idaho; Brian Santman, $1,000 to Gonzaga University; Taylor Morris, $1,000 to University of Hawaii-Manoa; and Evan Bowechop, $1,000 to Stanford University.
Grants to nonprofit organization were:
■Fish Family Fund — $3,000 to the Sequim Education Foundation.
■Carol Munro Memorial Fund — $2,500 each to First Step Family Support Center and Healthy Families of Clallam County.
■Mac Ruddell Community Fund — Habitat for Humanity, $250; St. Vincent de Paul Port Angeles, $1,500; Queen of Angels School Scholarship Fund, $4,500; Soroptimist International of Port Angeles Operation Uplift, $475; and Soroptimist International of Port Angeles Rose House project, $1,000.
The Clallam Community Foundation has eight named funds.
In addition, 10 nonprofit agencies have established a partner fund to support the mission of their organizations.
