A revised animal-shelter contract with Clallam County that covered half of the shelter’s projected $40,000 shortfall was rejected Wednesday by the Clallam County Humane Society’s board of directors.
“The board didn’t want to totally buy the offer,” said Humane Society President John Miles.
“So they asked me to go back and talk some more. I’m meeting with County Administrator Dan Engelbertson on Tuesday.”
The Humane Society is seeking an additional $40,000 to keep its animal shelter open.
The county already gives the Humane Society $50,000 a year, and the city of Port Angeles contributes $45,000. Sequim pays on a per-animal basis.
