CLALLAM BAY — A young woman determined to educate people about detecting and preventing cancer will walk from Joyce to Clallam Bay on Sunday.
Jenny Mohr, 14, of Clallam Bay will lace up her sneakers and walk the 33 miles in remembrance of her grandmother, Marie Kopis, who died of ovarian cancer last December.
As of Thursday afternoon, Jenny had raised $1,700 for cancer research in conjunction with the planned walk.
She hopes to raise at least $2,000 and donate the money to the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center Foundation in Seattle.
Overall, she has raised $4,110 for the research center during a three-year period.
This is Jenny’s fifth walk for cancer awareness.
