Wracking up fines on overdue library books?
This may be your lucky month.
Through the end of September, the North Olympic Library System is waiving all fines and fees for people who return books and other materials that have been billed as lost.
Library Director George Stratton said the amnesty is one way for the system to cope with its budget shortfall.
“We don’t expect it to solve the problem, but it’s one way we can offset some of our revenue decline,” he said.
“It has the added benefit of getting books and other materials back on the shelf and more available to the public.”
But the offer is good only for a short time.
