SEQUIM — The city of Sequim has announced the result of voting for the inaugural People’s Project.
According to a press release, of the 951 ballots cast, the city park water station project garnered the most votes.
The Big Belly automated trash and recycling stations received the second highest number of votes.
Based on the voting, and the overall budget of $150,000, city staff will recommend funding the water stations and five to seven of the proposed 13 Big Belly stations in the 2020 budget.
The other three projects were, in order of decreasing numbers of votes, the pet waste stations, $5,500; the Pioneer Park walking path, $76,000; and the festive holiday bells, $50,600.
