CHIMACUM — The schools chief of Kettle Falls will become the new superintendent of the Chimacum School District, the School Board decided Wednesday night.
Blair, who visited Chimacum schools and the community Wednesday, will succeed Mary Lynne Derrington, who will become superintendent of Blaine schools.
The new superintendent will lead the 1,380-student district and its 160 staff members effective July 1, a School Board spokesman said.
The superintendent’s job pays between $80,000 and $90,000 a year.
Blair, superintendent in Kettle Falls since 1999, was formerly with the Deer Park School District for 16 years.
He has also worked in the juvenile court system as a detention shift leader in Spokane.
The Southern California native and his wife, Judy, have four children.
