DIAMOND POINT — Authorities are awaiting results of an autopsy to help determine the cause of the death of a woman whose body was found Friday in a wooded area near her Diamond Point home.
Bevil Roening, who had been missing since Tuesday, was 46.
Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies discovered the body at about 9:30 a.m. Friday.
“We don’t suspect foul play, but we are going to investigate until we can rule it out,” said Detective Sgt. John Keegan of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
“We’re going to treat this as if it were a crime until we can prove it wasn’t,” he added.
An autopsy was planned for sometime this weekend, Keegan said.
The sheriff’s office issued a missing and endangered person alert Thursday after Roening’s family members reported her as missing.
Family members — who live in the area, Keegan said — had not heard from her since Tuesday and were concerned because she suffered from a condition that required her to take medication.
Keegan would not say what the medical condition was, citing privacy concerns.
“Our condolences go out to her family,” Keegan said.
“We’re going to thoroughly investigate until the manner of death is discovered.”
Sheriff’s detectives combed the property Thursday evening and interviewed Roening’s known acquaintances before conducting a search into forested areas Friday.
Keegan said he thought she lived alone.
