Car stolen from Port Townsend Safeway parking lot after keys left in it

PORT TOWNSEND — Police are seeking a car stolen from the Port Townsend Safeway parking lot after the keys were left in it.

The owner of the maroon Mazda Protégé found her car gone after she shopped in Safeway at 442 W. Sims Way at about 5 p.m. Friday, said Patrick Fudally, Port Townsend Police Department spokesman.

Police searched the area but did not find the car.

The Washington license plate number is ADD3592.

Anyone who witnessed the theft is asked to call the department at 360-385-3831, Ext. 1.

Anyone who sees the car is advised not to approach those driving it and call 9-1-1.

“The police department would like to remind the public that they should always lock their car doors and take their keys with them,” Fudally said.
