BLYN — A car ran a firetruck off the road near Blyn on Friday, the State Patrol said.
No one was hurt.
At about 3 p.m., a Ford Taurus traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 270 crossed over into the eastbound lane to pass traffic, cutting off a 1985 Pierce Pumper firetruck traveling eastbound, the State Patrol said.
Because the lane was partially blocked, the driver of the firetruck — John Douglas McIntyre, 43, of Port Angeles — swerved to miss the Taurus and drove into a ditch on the side of the highway.
“Apparently, the car cut off the firetruck,” said Trooper Russ Winger, State Patrol spokesman.
“No contact was made between vehicles.”
The driver of the Taurus, whose identity was unknown Friday, fled the scene.
The eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway near Corriea Road were partially blocked until 3:30 p.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.
