BUSINESS BRIEFS: New sub shop to open in Carlsborg . . . and other items

CARLSBORG — The first Blimpie America’s Sub Shop on the North Olympic Peninsula opens Saturday at 20 Carlsborg Road, inside the Shell gasoline station and at its drive-through window, according to a news release.

The grand opening hours that day will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Owners Jim and Julie Schumacher say they will offer freshly made bread and will use all local vegetables in the hot subs, wraps and other combinations.

The shops hours will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.

Free legal clinic

PORT TOWNSEND — The Clallam-Jefferson Pro Bono Lawyers will host a legal clinic from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Planning Ahead Free Legal Clinic will be at the Port Townsend Community Center at 620 Tyler St.

This is a chance for low-income community members to prepare advance planning documents, such as a durable power of attorney for finances and a health care directive, also known as a living will.

Participants will have the opportunity to walk away with legally effective power of attorney documents and health care directives.

The Planning Ahead Free Legal Clinic is sponsored by the Clallam-Jefferson Pro Bono Lawyers, the Northwest Justice Project and the Seattle University School of Law Clinical Program.

Homebuyer class

SEQUIM — Evergreen Home Loans will host a free homebuyer education class from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The class will be at the business at 542 N. Fifth Ave., Suite 2-B.

Featured speakers will be Michele Adkisson of Evergreen Home Loans and Andrea Gilles of Professional Real Estate.

Seating is limited. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

The class is sponsored by the Washington State Housing Finance Commission.
