BRINNON — It’s a museum in a trunk, and it arrived at Brinnon school last week to tell the story of the region’s loggers.
The Jefferson County Historical Society delivered its newest set of historical artifacts to allow Brinnon students a hands-on learning experience in the history of their predecessors.
The logging trunk is a recent addition to three other historical compilations that the society has brought to schools around Jefferson County.
The trunks are part of the society’s effort to familiarize students with the county’s past.
County historians chose timber-industry-rich Brinnon for the logging trunk debut.
“Brinnon is perfect for this brand new trunk because of its extensive logging history,” said JoAnn Bussa, a Jefferson County Historical Society board member.
“This history trunk provides insight to the tools and the lifestyle known as logging.”
The trunk remained at the school for several days, and will make its way to other school districts aiming for the kindergarten through eighth-grade audience.
History trunks are available to the public by calling Jefferson County Historical Society at 360-385-1003.
