Brinnon and Quilcene firefighters helped extinguish a fire in an unoccupied boathouse just over the East Jefferson County line early Tuesday morning.
The fire in the commercial structure at 40640 U.S. Highway 101 in Mason County prompted closure of the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 101 near Beacon Point Drive for about 45 minutes.
No one was injured, said Chief Bob Herbst.
The Brinnon Fire Department was called to the fire at 5:52 a.m., Herbst said.
The blaze was considered under control at 7 a.m. and was declared out at 8 a.m.
The road was fully open by 8:30 a.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation Tuesday, but initial indicators point to an electrical fire in the attic space, Herbst said.
The Hamma Hamma Fire Department was first on the scene and was joined by Lake Cushman and Hoodsport departments as well as Brinnon and Quilcene, Herbst said.
