BRINNON: Medical, dental clinic proposed in motel

>

BRINNON — Southern Jefferson County residents could have better access to local healthcare if a plan to add a medical clinic to the Bayshore Motel comes to fruition.

Plans submitted last month to the Jefferson County Department of Community Development call for adding a clinic with two examination rooms and a reception area to the motel.

The space could then be used by doctors and dentists to provide patient care in the area.

Olympic Community Action Programs Deputy Director Tim Hockett said the clinic could provide space for medical and dental treatment for low-income individuals or those with no insurance in an area that has traditionally been underserved.

The paddles are among the thousands of gifts being created for participants in the 2025 Tribal Canoe Journey, hosted this year by the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe. The event begins with the landing of dozens of native canoes at the mouth of the Elwha River on July 31 and continues with five days of celebration on the Lower Elwha reservation west of Port Angeles. As many as 10,000 indigenous peoples are expected to take part. The public is invited to help with giftmaking sessions, scheduled daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Center.
