BRINNON — Supporters of repairing the washed-out Dosewallips Road have altered their plan to include the trail construction idea presented by project opposition.
Olympic Forest Coalition members want a trail built from the damaged section of the road into the Olympic Mountains high country.
Proponents, like Brinnon resident Ken Shock, now say they want that, too — plus the road.
Shock is working on the issue along with the Quilcene-Brinnon Chamber of Commerce.
Despite the altered plan, Forest Coalition President Jim Scarborough isn’t budging on his position.
“We’re not at all in favor of reconstructing the road,” he said Friday.
“There are big issues,” he added. “It would cut right through old growth forest.”
