PORT ANGELES — An additional $5,000 is available to groups, clubs and organizations to help fund projects, special events and festivals that will attract overnight visitors to Port Angeles in 2014.
This tourism promotion money comes from Port Angeles hotel-motel-B&B bed taxes.
The money is disbursed by the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors based on recommendations by the chamber’s Special Events Committee. Grants totaling about $65,000 already have been made.
Deadline for submitting an application for a tourism promotion grant is 5 p.m. Monday, March 31.

Only applications emailed by the March 31 deadline will be considered.
“This is part of the contract the chamber has with the city to market the community,” said Veenema.
“The grants vary a great deal depending on the size of the event or project and the potential return on investment to the city.”
Calls for crafters
PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Arts Guild is accepting applications for craft fairs from artists who make their own art.

Pasture seminar
PORT ANGELES — A class on boosting forage production in pastures and hayfields will be held at Leitz Farm Store, 1527 E. Front St., from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10.
Rotational grazing, reseeding and fertilizing will be covered in detail at this free event.
While not necessary for class attendance, a $20 soil test can help with accurate fertilizer and lime choices to increase production.
Participants who have taken soil tests will be assisted in interpreting the results.

Radio classes
PORT ANGELES — The Clallam Country Amateur Radio Club will hold technician and general license instruction classes and an exam at the Port Angeles Fire Station, 102 E. Fifth St., on April 5, 12 and 19.
Classes are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
These three days will be based on chapters from the American Radio Relay League technician or general class manual.
The program is free and is taught by local members of the Clallam County Amateur Radio Club and the Amateur Radio Emergency Service group.
There is a $15 processing fee for the exam.
