Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula phone-a-thon set for Saturday

Volunteers will handle phones in the second annual phone-a-thon to benefit the Sequim and Port Angeles units of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula on Saturday.

Volunteers from both units will answer phones and make calls to those who have donated in the past from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Those who want to donate or pledge a check can phone 360-683-8095.

Also, the Sequim unit at 400 W. Fir St. will hold an open house from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Visitors will be offered free hot dogs and drinks and tours of the facility.

KONP radio will broadcast live.

Donations can be made at the facility during the open house.

Campaign for Kids

The phone-a-thon is part of the organization’s Campaign for Kids, which began April 1 and runs through Aug. 31.

The goal for the Campaign for Kids fundraiser is $80,000, said Crystal Van Selus, program director at the Sequim unit.

So far, $35,000 has been raised, said Mary Budke, executive director, and the hope is that the phone-a-thon will raise the rest of the money.

Funds go into general operating funds unless donors designate where money will go within the clubs.

The fundraiser will benefit both the Mount Angeles unit at 2620 S. Francis St. in Port Angeles and the Sequim unit.

For more information about the Sequim club, phone 360-683-8095.

For information about the Port Angeles club, phone 360-417-2831.

More details about both clubs are available online at www.PositivePlaceforKids.net.
