DURING A 19-HOUR endurance test flight that ended Friday, the crew aboard a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner took sky-writing to new heights.
The plane traced the Boeing company logo as well as “787” in the skies over 10 states.
The jetliner flew from Washington state to Iowa and back. The sky-writing was tracked by the Flightaware website ( http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE236 ).
Randy Tinseth, Boeing’s VP for marketing, said the crew “coordinated with the many air traffic control centers, choosing the routing to avoid restricted airspace.”
It’s the second time this stunt has been done by a Boeing crew. Last August, during a 747-8 test flight, the crew traced a giant “747” in the sky.
