Blanket project to combat sex trafficking

PORT ANGELES — Soroptimist International of Port Angeles – Jet Set and Girl Scout Troop 52116, of Port Angeles High School, have teamed up to make and distribute blankets to Scarlet Road.

Scarlet Road is a faith-based organization that assists the survivors of sexual exploitation.

The scout troop joined the project to help stem the tide of sex trafficking and to educate young girls about the recruitment practices of traffickers.

Sex trafficking is a priority issue for Soroptimist International, they hold a voice in the United Nations as part of the effort to stop the trafficking of young women and young boys throughout the world, according to a Jet Set press release.
