SEQUIM — Auditions for “Steel Magnolias,” the classic play about six Louisiana women, are coming up at Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave.
Director Larry Harwood will hold tryouts on two dates: Saturday, Feb. 7, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and finally Monday, Feb. 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The roles available are:
■ Truvy Jones, the 40ish owner of the beauty shop where the women gather;
■ Annelle Dupuy-Desoto, 19, beauty shop assistant;
■ Clairee Belcher, 66ish, widow of the former mayor and a grand dame;
■ Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie, 25, prettiest girl in town;
■ M’Lynn Eatenton, Shelby’s 50ish mother and socially prominent career woman;
■ Ouiser Boudreaux, wealthy curmudgeon, acerbic but lovable.
Auditioners will be asked to read from the play’s script, and while Southern accents are encouraged, they’re not required for the tryout.
“Steel Magnolias” scripts are available for review at the Olympic Theatre Arts Center office, which is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The show will open at OTA on April 3 for a three-week run, with performances Thursday through Sunday, excluding Easter Sunday, April 5.
