PORT HADLOCK — Saying he is ready to retire again, M. Kelly Hays has announced he will not seek election to the District 2 position on the Jefferson County Public Utility District board.
Hays was appointed to the post in February 2005 after it was vacated by David Sullivan, who successfully ran for Jefferson County commissioners in November 2004.
“I don’t feel I can devote the amount of time to it that it deserves,” Hays, 63, said Friday, explaining his decision.
“It’s a very important job, and it really takes a lot of time to do it right. I’m ready to enjoy my retirement.”
Hays worked 35 years in the telecommunications industry with companies such as Qwest and US West.
