Another week of idle mills in Clallam County

Portac’s Beaver sawmill will shut down for one week beginning Monday, idling its 54 employees for three of the last four weeks.

Those workers join other lumber mill employees who have been unable to work because of shutdowns.

Interfor Pacific’s 104 employees in Port Angeles have been idle since Feb. 4.

The 126 employees of KPly in Port Angeles have been collecting unemployment checks since Nov. 2 — and no information about when that will change was available on Saturday.

Portac’s planer mill in Forks, which has 55 employees, is continuing to operate.
